MiM Interview Experience-1

Before I delve into the insights gained from my interview at Ivey Business School, it’s crucial to highlight the significance of maintaining a relaxed atmosphere during the interview process. This realization stems from my past encounters with less successful interviews, emphasizing the value of preparing with relevant work-related anecdotes.

Here’s an overview of the interview:

  1. Can you introduce yourself?
  2. What motivated you to pursue an MiM degree immediately after completing your undergraduate degree? Why Ivey Business School?
  3. You have a BJMC background, but you are interested in business. Can you explain what prompted this transition?
  4. Have you ever been an agent of change? If so, what did you do and what was the impact of your actions?
  5. What challenges have you faced while working on a team project? What valuable lessons have you learned from those experiences?
  6. What are your strengths and weaknesses?
  7. How have you handled cross-functional projects, especially when team members had competing priorities? What strategies have you used to align everyone’s efforts and prioritize your work?

During the interview, I highlighted my strengths as being analytical, innovative, and helpful to others. This led to a follow-up question: Can you walk me through your thought process when working on a case study and developing creative solutions?

Advice to other applicants:

When preparing for your interview, focus on demonstrating your potential to contribute to the program and your ability to adapt to your peers and excel in a case-based learning environment.

Be able to articulate why you are passionate about business and why Ivey Business School is the right program for you. And be able to share examples of how you have worked successfully with others in the past.

I concluded my interview with the head of the admissions committee. The interaction was quite conversational and informal. Here are a few questions that stood out in my memory:

  1. What motivated you to pursue a MiM, why did you choose IBS, and why is this the right time for you?
