SDA Bocconi MBA – Introduction
SDA Bocconi is the leading School of Management in Italy and also stands among the top-ranked European institutions. The School offers a Full-time MBA and a Global Executive MBA in English as well as a modular Executive MBA, an Executive MBA Week-End and an Evening Executive MBA in Italian and 6 Executive Master Programs (3 International + 3 in Italian). Furthermore, the School offers a large variety of Executive Education Open and Custom Programs each year.
SDA Bocconi prides itself on its strategic location, unparalleled faculty, global outlook, diversity, and powerful networks. The school is positioned in the heart of Milano, a major capital of industry, finance, arts, media and, above all, fashion. Milano is a real-life laboratory for SDA Bocconi. The city is home to a myriad of companies and stock markets to which students are directly exposed.
SDA Bocconi is one of the few schools of management in the world to have earned the “triple crown” accreditation (AACSB, EQUIS and AMBA), and remains the only Italian School to feature amongst the 100 top international MBA programs in the Financial Times Global MBA Rankings 2017, moving up 3 and ranking 22th worldwide and 9th in Europe.
SDA Bocconi MBA Review
Reflecting the proximity of Italy’s industrial region, 28% of the 100 students who take the 12-month MBA come from industry, and 39% have engineering degrees. The school is ranked fourth in Europe by the Financial Times for salary increase in 2018 after three years, and fifth by Forbes for ROI among non-U.S. schools. In the last cohort, 79% changed either location, industry, or function, with 30% taking jobs in technology or e-business, just above the 28% who went into consulting. Amazon and Microsoft were the two biggest recruiters.
It’s not all heavy industry and tech, though. One of the Bocconi MBA’s five “concentrations” is in luxury business management, run in partnership with Gucci, Valentino, and LVMH. And just to underline the variety of businesses nearby, a recent field trip took in a visit to the Maserati car factory, while Italian insurance giant Generali organized a three-day hackathon with Bocconi MBAs to dream up innovative ideas for the insurance industry.
Of the MBA class, 84% take internships with local and international businesses, and the rest undertake an entrepreneurial project. Partners for international exchanges include top-flight schools such as Duke Fuqua, CEIBS, and HEC Paris. And it if all gets to be too much, there are plenty of extracurricular activities: the school organizes both a regatta in summer and a snowsports competition in winter.
The SDA Bocconi MBA also places among the top programs in the world as the best value for money, the investment in MBA education which pays itself back most quickly. According to the latest Forbes ranking of return on investment (ROI, the average time graduates need to earn back tuition fees), the SDA Bocconi MBA is the 4th best 1-year, non-US program in the world.
SDA Bocconi MBA Sample Essays
SDA Boconni Essay 3: Explain the most significant goals that you have achieved so far and the reasons for their importance in your personal growth.
My family came to India as an immigrant from Bangladesh. When my father migrated from Bangladesh to India, he had to deal with a lot of hurdles to bring up four daughters. He went against all the odds to give us the life we deserve and to become a successful businessman that he is now. Growing up, I have always seen people coming and consoling him for having four daughters as in the conservative Indian culture daughters are considered a baggage who will one day marry someone and go out of home. My goal growing up was always to stand up on my feet and make my father proud for everything he has done. Today I am the first engineer in my family and a successful IT professional. All the hard work that I have put in has brought out the positivity inside me and helped me aspire for something bigger in life.
Another significant moment in in my life was three years back when I met with an accident and injured my back. The injuries restricted my movements and I couldn’t continue my passion for dancing. After a lot of discussion and research, I joined Oriental Belly Dancing because it involved smooth fluidic movements as opposed to demanding hard hitting movements in other dance forms. I continued with my interest even with the pain and within six months of joining the academy, I not only recovered from my injuries but also started performing in big events throughout India. After recovering from a serious accident, I regained my lost passion for dancing. These public appearances and stage performances have helped me become a more confident individual. This motivated me to inspire and educate others about dancing and appreciate dancing as a way of life to stay fit and confident…Continue Reading Here
SDA Bocconi MBA Interview
I had my interview yesterday. The lady I talked to has not seen my application, only had my resume with her. I guess they wanted to see some purely human traits there. That also means, that she asked me basically all the same questions that were covered in my application:
Why an MBA now?
What are your strengths and weaknesses?
If you don’t mind me asking did you apply to other programs? Were you accepted and which ones? I was honest there and said that I applied and already been accepted, but definitely was willing to change my mind towards SDA. I guess I could have refused, seemed like she was just interested herself…Continue Reading Here
