Introduction to MeM at USC

MeM at USC is designed for students with undergraduate degrees in engineering or related sciences to prepare them for management responsibilities. As an MSEMT student, you will learn how to lead technology projects as well as manage teams, engineering functions, and companies.
In addition, you will gain an understanding of the economic decision-making processes. More than just theory, the MSEMT program offers real-world examples provided by instructors who have years of relevant industry experience, covering topics such as technology creation, management of invention, information systems, managerial accounting, and quantitative methods. This is also a suitable program to help prospective technical entrepreneurs understand the enterprise creation process.

NOTE: This program is appropriate for students from all engineering disciplines and does not focus specifically on Industrial & Systems Engineering.

Eligibility Criteria for MeM at USC

Applicants to the master’s of science programs in Engineering Management are required to have a bachelor’s degree or be in the process of completing a bachelor’s degree. Degrees in any engineering or engineering-related disciplines are frequently represented among our program applicants, including but not limited to the following:

  • Hard Science
  • Engineering
  • Math

Applicants without a Bachelor’s degree in the preferred majors listed above will only be considered with coursework and demonstrated proficiency in the acceptable courses listed below (or equivalent). 

The following materials are required to be included with your online application:

  • Transcripts
  • Resume/CV
  • Personal Statement
  • Letter of Recommendation (3 highly recommended)

NOTE: The GRE is not required for 2024 applications.

Documents required : MeM at USC

  • Online Application: Students have to submit an online application form at the official website.
  • Application Fee: Students need to submit their application fees.
  • Statement of Purpose: Reasons or intentions for pursuing studies in this program, including a description of prior experience.
  • 3 Letters of Recommendation: Three letters of recommendation are required; one letter must come from an academic source, although Stanford prefers at least two. Recommendations must be submitted online. 
  • Official GRE Test Scores: Students have to submit their GRE Test Scores.
  • ELP Scores: Students have to submit their English language proficiency scores like IELTS, TOEFL, or other test scores.

Scholarships Available : MeM at USC

  • Financial Aid Notification

You will be notified of your financial aid summary via email* within approximately 30 days after your financial aid file is complete. If you missed one or more deadlines, your financial aid eligibility may consist of only a Federal Direct (Stafford) Loan.

Monitor the status of your financial aid summary online at Financial Aid Summary and Tasks (FAST) Notification will also be sent to your email address.* Any future changes to your financial aid package will be viewable online only.

*Until you certify your enrollment with USC (by submitting the Statement of Intent Form and Commitment Deposit), email notifications will be sent to the address on file with your admission application. After you certify your enrollment, all notifications will be sent to your USC email address.

  • Verify the Information on Your Loan Application

Is your enrollment, housing and other information accurate? Has anything changed since you applied? To correct any errors, and/or to provide the Financial Aid Office with any new information, submit your updated information through your  FAST page. You can update your address or other information through OASIS.

FAQs About MeM

MS & PhD: Qualified applicants will have an undergraduate degree (Bachelor of Science or equivalent) in engineering/computer science, math, physics, or another hard science such as biology or chemistry, depending on the Master’s program. Please contact us if you have questions about your eligibility.

MS & PhD: To update your Personal Statement or CV/résumé, transcript or to add other documents, follow the instructions below:

1) Log into your submitted application, go to the Program Materials quadrant and open the Documents tab.

2) Use one of the Other documents slots to add the updated/corrected document.

3) If you have used all of your Other document slots, you will need to send the updated/corrected document as an attachment to [email protected]. Make sure to include your name and USC ID in the email. (Note: This is the number that was emailed to you after you submitted the application. It is not the CAS ID.)

You can enter all types of work experience in the Education and Experience section as well as detailing these experiences on your CV (Resumé).

Please use the scale that is used by the issuing university. There is no need to convert the GPA to a 4.0 scale.

MS: The GRE is not required for 2024 Master’s applications.
