Florida Bright Futures Scholarship
Scholarships are awarded through the Florida Bright Futures Scholarship Program, which is financed by the Florida Department of Education, based on high school academic accomplishment.
UF Merit Scholarships
There is no automatic awarding of UF scholarships based on test scores or GPA; rather, the merit scholarship screening procedure is comprehensive. There is no separate application for UF merit scholarships because all accepted candidates who submit their applications by the November 1 deadline for priority consideration for freshmen admission are taken into account. Each spring, a committee chooses the beneficiaries, who are notified via email by the middle of March.
Machen Florida Opportunity Scholarships (MFOS)
Machen Florida Opportunity Scholarships (MFOS) are created to make sure that students who are eligible will not need to work or take out loans in order to attend UF, but rather will have their needs completely supplied by grants and scholarships. Awards are given to Florida residents who are undergraduate renewal students and first-year college freshmen.
Benacquisto Scholarship
For in-state high school graduates who are named National Merit Scholars, there is a merit scholarship program called the Benacquisto Scholarship Program. Bright Futures and the National Merit award combined with the usual institutional cost of attendance for an in-state student will be deducted from the grant given to eligible students.
