John Hopkins MeM Interview Questions

Interview Tips & Questions from Past candidates

John Hopkins MeM Interviews

About MeM Interviews:

Since the MEM admissions process is competitive, candidates are advised to apply as soon as possible. Transcripts, recommendation letters, a personal statement, and a completed online application are all included in the application. Additionally, candidates are invited to interview with an admissions committee member.

The purpose of the MEM interview process is to determine how well the applicant fits into the programme. During the interview, the candidate will be questioned about their educational background, work history, aspirations for their career, and reasons for wanting to pursue a MEM degree. In order to evaluate the applicant’s capacity for leadership and their aptitude for problem-solving, the interviewer may also ask behavioural questions.

5 Tips to Ace Your MeM Interview:

  1. Do extensive research on the school and the programme. This will demonstrate your sincere interest in the programme and assist you in understanding the interviewer’s expectations.
  2. Practise standard interview inquiries. This will boost your self-assurance and readiness to respond to inquiries immediately.
  3. Get ready to share about your successes and experiences. This is your opportunity to promote your qualifications for the programme and to demonstrate your skills and abilities.
  4. Pose meaningful queries. This demonstrates your involvement and enthusiasm for the course.
  5. Be passionate and authentic. The interviewer is searching for a student who will be a valuable member of the programme community and who is enthusiastic about their studies.By using these pointers, you can maximise your chances.

John Hopkins MeM Interview Experience-1

“I had the honour of being interviewed via Skype over the internet. The interview was conducted on November 28, 18 “She knew a lot about me already because we had spoken during the college application process.” As a result, rather than asking me a lot of personal questions, the interview concentrated more on talking about particular topics.”

• Tell me about yourself.
• What are you most proud of?
• What three words would you choose to best describe yourself?
• What do you do in your free time?
• What are your strengths and weaknesses?
• Why are you interested in this position? In our organization?
• Why do you want to work in this field?

overall interview was amazing and I felt comfortable and did my best.

John Hopkins MeM Interview Experience-2

“There are simply not enough debriefs, even though the first one here covers everything, so I felt obligated to share my own experience. October 8, 2020, was my interview for the John Hopkins Programme.”

The interview questions I was asked were:

• To what activity outside of work (school) have you made the greatest contribution?
Describe your experiences.
• Give me an example of your leadership skills. Give me a second example.
• Are you a leader or a manager?
•Tell me about when you have championed an idea/a cause/a project, and describe what you accomplished and how.
• What is your greatest accomplishment?
• Give me an example of a tough decision you faced. How did you tackle it?
• Probing a project the interviewee has worked on: What was the specific improvement?

John Hopkins MeM Interview Experience-3

On October 15, 2021, an off-campus interview was conducted for the MeM Programme. In the end, I was placed on the program’s waitlist.

Since the interviewer and I were both students at the same university, we started off by discussing my undergraduate education. After that, it went more or less like any other interview:

• Tell me about a team you worked on.
• Do you prefer to work individually or on a team?
• Provide an example of when you didn’t get along with a co-worker and how you
resolved it.
• Describe your ideal boss/colleague.
• In what type of environment do you flourish?

John Hopkins MeM Interview Experience-4

“A member of the admissions committee and a second-year student interviewed me. The interview went well, lasting around forty-five minutes. They questioned me about my application to other institutions,  and several behavioural issues including conflict and change response. I also had an assessment to complete.”

• Give me an example of your problem-solving abilities/ analytical skills.
• Tell me about a tough decision you’ve made, and how you went about making it.
• How would you determine the number of basketball courts in the U.S.?
• Describe as many uses for ping-pong balls as you can.
• Why did you choose Johns Hopkins?
• Why did you choose this major?
• If you had to make this decision again (i.e., go to Hopkins, choose this major…),
would you make the same choice? Why or why not?

John Hopkins MeM Interview Experience-5

I had a skype interview for the John Hopkins MeM Program. It was conducted on February 03, 2021. The questions were:

• Where do you want to be in five years?
• What’s the difference between a job and a career?
• For someone with little work experience: How does your previous experience prepare
you for this position?
• I’ve interviewed over 10,000 people in 20+ years. What’s so special about you?

CLOSING STATEMENT:
• Is there anything you’d like to add that we didn’t cover in the interview?
