SP Jain Global MBA Interviews

How SP Jain Global MBA Interview Works

Applications that are complete in all aspects and qualify in terms of the minimum academic and other criteria specified above are evaluated for being progressed to the next stage in the admission process. Shortlisted candidates will be called for the SP Jain Global MBA Interview process.

The SP Jain Global MBA Interview panel will evaluate each candidate’s performance in terms of quality of work experience, diversity, leadership qualities, social sensitivity, and multifacetedness.

As a general approach to selecting a candidate for the programme, a multi-factor model is used. These factors include academic track record, GMAT/GRE scores, quality of work experience, performance in the interview, and writing ability test. A composite total score will be calculated for each applicant using the multi-factor model. A merit list is prepared based on the composite total score. The offer of admission will be made to a certain percentage of applicants on the merit list. The number of offers made will depend on the availability of seats. The number of offers will be further subject to the candidate meeting a minimum cutoff in terms of the composite score and/or for any other factor score that the admissions committee may decide on

Who will interview you, and how long will the interview last?

Will the interviewer have read my application?

It is always safer to assume that the Panel members have access to your complete application. In most instances, they would have read it completely. Unless the school specifically says that it will be an blind interview. Mostly North American Business schools in US and Canada have an  Blind interviews, European and SE Asian schools conduct interviews via Alums or panels which have full access to your entire application.

SP Jain Global MBA Interview Experience – 1

“I arrived at the venue one hour and fifteen minutes before my scheduled time.” In addition, the interview was 35-40 minutes late. I believe the waiting period caused a minor building of pressure within me.

1. What are your current responsibilities at your current organisation?
2. What project piqued your interest the most?
3. What motivates you to join SP Jain? (When responding to this, I also indicated my goals. That’s probably why they didn’t question me about my post-MBA plans individually.)
4. How will your peers benefit from your experience?
5. Tell me about your interests.
6. Do you have any queries for us?

The interview had a conversational tone overall, but I noted that I did the majority of the talking. I’m concerned that I’ve rambled on too long and missed an opportunity to emphasize key themes. We spent a long time debating question number four. Despite our lengthy talk, I had the impression that they were not completely convinced.

SP Jain Global MBA Interview Experience – 2

The SP Jain MBA interviews are challenging. I would like to discuss my interview experience at SP Jain; the interview panel consisted of three senior ad com members. It was a more formal, traditional Indian B-school interview. The only way to succeed in such interviews is to relax, keep your head cool, and avoid panicking or becoming confused by the questions.

These were the questions I remembered from that day. My interview lasted about 45 minutes.

1)Tell me about yourself and your family history.

-I spoke about my history and the city of Mumbai.

2)Inquired about the top industries in Mumbai

3)Asked about my professional development to date.

4)Why pursue an MBA? Why does SP Jain exist?

5)How did you manage your workplace team?

6)With so many honors and strong people management skills, what is the point of this course?

7)How do you put your MBA knowledge to use at work?

SP Jain Global MBA Interview Experience – 3

There were three panellists in total, and they were all graduates of classes from 2012 to 2017. They were kind and cheerful throughout, yet they were also professional. Before we began, I was instructed to get comfy.
Concerns –
1. Please walk me over your résumé.
2. Why did you decide to work in the energy business after passing CA?
3. Why do you want to take an MBA if you enjoy your current work so much?
4. Please explain your short-term objectives. What is your backup plan?
5. Why should we pick you over the others? In what ways may you help the SP Jain community?
6. What kind of personalities irritate you, and how do you cope with them?
7. Do you have any further questions for us?

Tips: Complete your whole application (including essays) thoroughly.
Prepare two or three questions to ask the interviewers.”

SP Jain Global MBA Interview Experience – 4

I applied to SP Jain last year and was accepted into the class. If you ask me about my interview experience at SP Jain, I would say it was the most unforgettable time of my life. My interview lasted approximately 50 minutes, and most of the questions were based on my profile and work. The interview panel consisted of three persons; they were quite informal, listened to my responses, and made me feel comfortable. I entered the interview room at 2 pm, and these are the few questions I recall the most.

1. Gave me a current-events topic. Instructed to think and talk

2. Inquired about my employment duties

3. Began inquiring about technical topics such as cloud computing.

4. Why pursue an MBA? Why does SP Jain exist?

5. How do you define leadership, and how would an MBA assist you?

6. What are your strong points?

7. How do you motivate your team?

8. Tell us anything unique that you did not include in your application.

9. Do you have any questions?

Finally, I was fully prepared to answer these interview questions, and I was hopeful that I would succeed soon.

SP Jain Global MBA Interview Experience – 5

I was nervous when I arrived at the venue, but talking to other people in the foyer helped to calm me down. I was in the first batch of the day, and I was the first to interview with my two-person panel. They were graduates from the 2017 class. They made sure I was comfortable and settled, though, to be honest, they looked a little concerned, and I’ll explain why. The interview lasted around 20 minutes and was satisfactory. Sharing the following set of questions:
1. Where are you from? Have you ever visited the campus, and do you notice any differences now?

2. Tell me about your undergraduate courses and the college campus.

3. Tell me about your corporate experience, career advancements, and domain changes; your definition of success; and whether you believe you have ‘achieved it’ or have had that ‘wow’ moment to date.

4. Post-MBA aim; why is it niche-specific, and how did your existing skills contribute to your decision? (I got burned on this for 10 minutes straight)

5. Is there anything you want to change about your current employment, and how would your target organisations assist you in doing so?

6. Describe your usual day at work, including the ins and outs of your employment.

7. Tell me about your honours, certificates, and scholarships.

8. Tell me about your hobbies and how you balance work and other duties.

I ended the interview by asking if I had any questions, and I did. (Please inquire, but do not appear uninterested in the programme.)

SP Jain Global MBA Interview Experience – 6

My interview panel was laid-back. They asked me a lot of detailed questions about my employment and my career objectives.

1. Tell us about the cultural contrasts between your previous and current employers and why you left after only 6 months. This is a cross-question.

2. Tell us about your previous company. It was about MBA school advertising. Therefore they wanted to know all about it. I had some concerns about this.

3. You wish to work in FMCG; have you discussed this with SP Jain alumni? Who are they all? Is there anyone beyond SP Jain?
I mentioned a project I’ve been working on with someone from IIMC and FMCG. There are some concerns about this.

4. You were in a lot of commercials during your college graduation. It’s a difficult industry to break into. How did you get in, and why didn’t you stay? Do you want to work in advertising after studying it? So why not?

5. What is the purpose of marketing? If there is anything personal you want to discuss or avoid, you are free to do so.

6. Inquiries concerning my hometown and its socioeconomic position. One was from a neighbouring state.

6. Describe your current projects. Why did you transition from CRM to Go-To-Market? How many individuals do you employ?

7. We had a long talk regarding one of my market research excursions to Gujarat and how it went. They inquired in depth about my approach to extracting insights through qualitative interviews, among other things.

We had a good time answering two of my queries.

SP Jain Global MBA Interview Experience – 7

There were a total of three alumni. The interview took the form of a dialogue and included audience participation. After they had introduced themselves, I went ahead and did the same thing for myself.

Following this, the majority of the conversation focused on my field of work, my organisation, the projects I had worked on, the teams I had worked with, as well as my short-term and long-term objectives. They asked me about a variety of my contributions, both professional and extracurricular that I had listed on my application.

They told me that my application was sufficient to comprehend my background, and before we finished, they asked me if there was anything that I had left out of the application that I should have mentioned. I maintained a lighthearted tone throughout that discussion by sharing an interesting detail about myself, which led to several humorous exchanges between us.

You have one more opportunity, and if you capitalise on it and play to your strengths, it could determine how the rest of the interview goes for you.

Approximately 25 minutes were allotted for the interview.

SP Jain Global MBA Interview Experience – 8

I was there for roughly half an hour in the waiting room. If that does happen to you, I completely understand that your anxiety will skyrocket; nevertheless, try to remain calm and take some deep breaths because everything will be okay.

Question 1: What have you been up to during and after your time in school?
Question 2: What did your role include at the organisation you worked for? (I am employed by the family business.)
Question 3: What is it about SP Jain that interests you?

Question 4: In what ways will the SP Jain Global MBA be beneficial to you?
Question 5: What did you do to overcome the greatest obstacle in your path, and how did you get beyond it?
Question 6: What do you consider to be your greatest accomplishment to date?
Question 7: Given that you are already working in the business world, why do you wish to spend a year at SP Jain, followed by a few years working in the banking industry? (I had already mentioned this in my essay) Question 8: Aside from working, what other things do you do in your free time?

I’m willing to give them the benefit of the doubt and assume that it was the first interview of the day, but one of them appeared really apprehensive, and I believe that it was his very first time being interviewed. My experience, on the whole, was positive; I answered the questions to the best of my ability, and now I’m crossing my fingers and hoping for the best.

SP Jain Global MBA Interview Experience – 9

The people I interviewed had a laid-back attitude. They grilled me with numerous in-depth questions regarding my profession and my aspirations for the future of my career.

1. Can you give us a high-level summary of your profile?
2. A follow-up inquiry regarding a real-world initiative that I had worked on regarding the enhancement of kids’ skill sets in the public schools of Delhi
3. Why SP Jain? Why MBA?
4. Questions pertaining to an area of interest in the field of finance (where did the Sensex close yesterday, ratio analysis, and how to evaluate the financial health of a firm based on its balance sheet)
5. Which organisations do you have an interest in joining?
6. What is it about you that will make the ISB Classroom better because you are a part of it?
7. What if SP Jain Global MBA doesn’t happen?
8. You don’t appear like the kind of person who works well in a group setting. How do you plan to keep yourself afloat at SP Jain?
9. Any questions for us?

SP Jain Global MBA Interview Experience – 10

3 member panel. Not to worry. They started off by introducing themselves to one another. They put a ban in place that forbade anyone from using the word “Sir.”

1. Work experience: What will a typical day on the job look like for me? What exactly does all of the jargon mean that’s been thrown around in this application? Which particular area of the project am I responsible for managing?
2. Peer-to-peer (P2P) learning: The panel questioned me on all of the things that I had stated in the initial essay. The massive window of opportunity to shine the spotlight on what it is that you offer to the table.
3. Here’s the scenario: you’re the Chief Minister of Delhi. What steps would you take to lessen the amount of pollution in the city? (If you’ve listed strategy consulting as your short-term aim, you should be prepared to present a case study or estimate.)
4. Interests and Hobbies: They questioned me regarding one of my interests or hobbies. Because I had read this while I was getting ready, I was ready for this particular line of questioning. It is expected of you, for example, that if your favourite sport is basketball, you would be able to carry on a conversation about the subject as well. Players, infractions, general knowledge, etc.
5. Why should I get an MBA at this stage of my career?
6. Is there anyone who has any questions for the panel?
