Short Answer – The average GMAT score at HEC Paris is 690 for the last entering class. If you score above 690, you have a fair shot and you will receive an encouraging response to your profile evaluation from the admission committee.Â
Long Answer – There is no such thing as a safe score, higher is always better. In our years of consulting experience, we have seen our clients with 640 getting selected into top schools like INSEAD and on the other hand, someone with a 770 getting rejected too. A good benchmark that we advise all our clients to beat is the average GMAT score of the last entering class as mentioned in the Class profile published every year. Scoring above the average gets you a fair shot;Â
“The higher your score, the better is it for your interview or admission chance.”Â
If you plan to apply with a score that is below the average, then you are starting a fight with one hand tied behind your back or, let’s say, you are starting a few yards behind your competitors. You can definitely catch up in other sections of the application by writing outstanding essays or performing really well in an interview later. But it is always nice to start ahead of the competitor. A higher GMAT score helps one gain a competitive advantage.
“What if you are from the over represented Indian or Asian Pool?”
The over-represented candidate pool of Indian or Chinese applicants usually goes through a rigorous preparation process for GMAT, with a lot of Indian applicants scoring quite high. Hence, the overall competition and the Average score for this diaspora goes up by a few notches. That is why we recommend candidates within the most over-represented profiles to shoot at least 20 points higher than the school’s class profile average.Â

The work experience requirement at the HEC Paris EMBA is in line with the program’s objective of refining the management skills of established professionals. As such, though such requirements vary at business schools across the world, the minimum number of years of work experience required to be eligible for the Executive MBA program at HEC Paris is eight years.
The program’s participants have historically averaged closer to 15 years of work experience, though recent intakes follow the market trends of younger, high-achieving professionals not wanting to leave flourishing careers for a full-time program.
Yes, EMBA participants continue to work full-time. Though a handful of participants elect to take a break in their careers to focus on the program—particularly those with entrepreneurial ambitions— the vast majority continue learning in concert with their busy careers, applying insights from their EMBA education immediately to their jobs.
The total cost of the 15-18 month HEC Paris EMBA program for the class that begins in September 2022 is €92,000. This includes tuition, participant fees, course materials, and meals during modules. It also includes additional coverage for Specializations weeks, such as course materials, room, board, and ground transportation.
As the program is composed of busy executives, entrepreneurs, and industry leaders, the bulk of program logistics are handled by HEC Paris staff.
Participants expect to fully immerse themselves in the experience. As such, during on-campus or Paris modules, most choose accommodations that allow for easy access to academic facilities, common and group work areas.
HEC Paris’ EMBA Career team understands that flexibility is critical as your career evolves. Our Careers Team takes a holistic approach, focusing on long-term career trajectories. All EMBA students will have access to executive career coaching and specialized career programming.
Our curriculum also features a Personal and Professional Development component which runs alongside the academic curriculum. This Careers curriculum is delivered by our Career team and consists of seminars, workshops and other career support events.
HEC Paris’ commitment to you will last long beyond your graduation from the program. As an alumnus of HEC Paris, you will have access to career resources during professional transitions, and you’ll also benefit from lifelong career support.
Though HEC Paris is a French institution, knowledge of French is not needed in the EMBA program. The program’s language of instruction is English, though the November modular track is bilingual and taught in both English and French.
English is the only language required for admission.
