NCSU MeM  Interview Experience-1

interviews are usually taken by 3-4 panel members. 1 gentleman who was an alumnus from NCSU and was now starting a company in Pune. The other 2 were French ladies, one was a French teacher settled in India while the other was a professor from one of the SAI business schools.

1. Which personal traits do you think will set you apart as a candidate for North Carolina State University’s MEM programme?
2. Give an example of a time in your academic or professional career when you overcame a difficult situation by using logic and problem-solving techniques.
3. Could you give an instance of how you were able to utilise the abilities of each team member and collaborate well with a diverse group of people?
4. In the field of engineering management, flexibility is crucial. Could you provide an example of how you usually handle adjustments or unforeseen challenges in your career or studies?
5. Tell about a successful project that called for creative thinking. How did your original viewpoint or inventive approach to problem-solving help you achieve this?

NCSU MeM Interview Experience-2

“My interview for the NCSU MeM took place on March 15, 2022. The interview lasted for approximately forty-five minutes. It was a Zoom interview that was simple to conduct.

These questions were asked:

1. North Carolina State University’s MEM programme emphasises moral leadership. How do the ethical decision-making in engineering management principles and your own values fit together?
2. Explain how you make decisions in engineering management when presented with conflicting or insufficient information.
3. One of the most important skills in engineering management is excellent communication. Could you give an instance where your ability to communicate was essential to resolving a technical problem or seeing a project through to completion?

I had a Skype interview for the NCSU MeM questions were:

1. Why did you decide on this specific programme for your Master of Engineering Management degree, and what inspired you to pursue it?
2. Could you give a brief summary of your training and experience in engineering or a similar sector, emphasising your most significant successes and experiences?
3. What specific information or skills do you aim to learn from the MEM programme, and how do you see it assisting your career and personal growth?
4. What makes you stand out from the other applicants, and how can the MEM programme benefit from your special experiences or viewpoints?
5. Collaboration and team initiatives are common in the MEM programme. Could you describe a time when you worked well in a team and how you contributed to the group’s goals being met?

NCSU MeM Interview Experience-4

I had my interview for the NCSU MeM Program recently. A member of the admissions committee and one of the admissions directors there conducted my interview. The entire interview lasted around 30 minutes and was extremely conversational. She made sure I felt at ease in my environment. The following questions were asked :

1. Talk about a period in your academic or professional career when you encountered a major obstacle or setback and how you overcame it.
2. At North Carolina State University. moral leadership is highly valued. How do your principles fit with engineering management’s emphasis on social responsibility and ethics?
3. How does this programme fit into your broader career plan, and what are your long-term job goals?
4. Give an example of a success you are pleased with and explain how it shows that you are prepared for the MEM programme.

“I interviewed for the MeM Program last year and it went okayish. It could have been better, maybe I was less prepared”
