 1) Tell me about yourself.

I am Mohit Soni, a front-office technology leader at Citadel Securities, where I manage a team of quantitative developers and technologists responsible for trading alpha generation and research data platforms. With a Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science from VIT University and over 14 years of experience in technology and finance, I have developed a strong foundation in leading complex projects and driving technological innovation. My career journey has taken me through roles at Box, Mesosphere/D2IQ, and eBay/PayPal, where I honed my skills in software engineering, infrastructure strategy, and team leadership. I have been granted patents in resource sharing and on-demand image spriting, and I have presented at several prominent conferences, including Strata NY and ApacheCon. Outside of work, I enjoy reading, traveling, and engaging in mentorship programs.

 2) Can you tell me about one memorable event from your childhood?

One of the most memorable events from my childhood was when I built my first computer with my father. I was fascinated by technology from a young age, and my father, who was an engineer, nurtured this interest. Together, we gathered the components and assembled the computer in our living room. The sense of accomplishment I felt when we powered it on for the first time was incredible. This experience sparked my passion for technology and set me on the path to becoming an engineer. 3) What was your undergraduate experience like?

My undergraduate experience at VIT University was both challenging and rewarding. I pursued a Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science, which provided me with a solid foundation in programming, algorithms, and systems design. Beyond academics, I was actively involved in various extracurricular activities, including coding competitions and technical clubs. These experiences helped me develop problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in teams.  4) What are your short-term and long-term career goals?

In the short term, I aim to transition into a senior executive role, such as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) or Chief Innovation Officer (CIO), where I can lead technological and strategic initiatives in the financial services sector. I want to leverage my technical expertise and business acumen to drive innovation and create competitive advantages for my organization. If my primary career goals are not achievable, I will focus on leveraging my extensive experience in technology and finance to pivot to a leadership role in a technology consultancy or start-up environment. This would allow me to continue driving innovation and contributing to strategic initiatives, albeit in a different capacity. Additionally, I would explore opportunities in academia or professional training, where I can share my knowledge and experience with others, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.

I have also applied to Wharton and Kellogg.
