Lancaster MeM Interview Experience-1

On November 22, 2022, the Lancaster MeM Programme interview took place. It was then that I was chosen.

The interview went really well; the interviewer made the room feel welcoming and pleasant, which put me at ease. I also liked that practically every question asked included specific information from my application, thus I was always prepared with an answer.

1. Tell me a little about who you are.
2. Take me through your cover letter.
3. Why choose a MeM? How come Lancaster University?
4. What are your long- and short-term goals?
5. Should (intended career) not materialise, what is your backup plan?
6. What are your strengths and weaknesses? Give a few instances.
7. In what way will you benefit the class?
8. One explanation for why we shouldn’t choose you?

CLOSING:

Do you have any questions for us?

Lancaster MeM Interview Experience-2

I was called beforehand and given adequate time to prepare for the first interview. The first round was with an administrator and a current assistant. The questions were fair, but at times they felt I hadn’t answered adequately so they pressed me for elaboration (politely). After the interview, I was told I was rejected for the position over the phone (and given feedback). After the rejection, I was called back for a second interview (with new interviewers), because the recruiter felt the title of the role was misleading, so they changed it to “administrative assistant”

These questions were asked:

  1. Tell me about yourself.
  2.  What are you most proud of?
  3.  What three words would you choose to best describe yourself?
  4.  What do you do in your free time?
  5.  What are your strengths and weaknesses?
  6.  Why are you interested in this position? In our organization?
  7.  Why do you want to work in this field?

The interview was conducted without incident. His concluding remarks were quite uplifting. I wish everyone the best”

Lancaster MeM Interview Experience-3

Interviewed online on November 20,2022

Final Decision: Rejected

“The interview lasted around 50 minutes and was casual. Here are some of the questions:

1. Along with situational and behavioural questions, the Lancaster University Panel also likes asking questions about personal interests and pastimes. Here are a few instances:
2. What drew you to (your hobby)? What spurs you on?
3. What would you say your best accomplishments to date are?
4. Give me an instance when you were in dispute.

This is all I can remember. Hope this helps”

Lancaster MeM Interview Experience-4

The interview starts exactly in the time given. I was led by two PhD who were going to conduct my interview.

1. Why did you decide on the University of Lancaster’s Masters in Engineering Management programme?
2. Could you elaborate on your educational background and how this programme fits with it?
3. What method do you usually use to solve problems in your work or academic life?
4. Could you describe an instance where you had to collaborate well with others in a team? What part did you play?
5. What particular abilities or information are you hoping to acquire from this programme?
6. How do you envision yourself contributing to the academic community while you’re a student?

Closing: Is there anything you wished that we asked you?

Lancaster MeM Interview Experience-5

Admission to Lancaster University will not be possible without the one-on-one interviews that it rigorously conducts. My MeM Interview was conducted recently, and I was admitted thereafter.
The encounter was a complete haze, however, the interviewer maintained a relaxed dialogue and established a sense of ease for me.

The following topics were asked:

1. Why did you decide on the University of Lancaster’s Masters in Engineering Management programme?
2. Could you give an instance from your academic or professional career where you had to make a crucial decision based on little information?
3. How do you go about picking up new skills and adjusting to challenges?
4. Could you give an example of a project or experience where you used creativity or innovation in your line of work?
5. What is the motivation behind your decision to enrol in this programme, both personally and professionally?
6. What part does cooperation, in your opinion, play in engineering management, and how can an individual help a team succeed?

Closing Statement :
Be sincere and make an effort to provide a real-world example for each point. Examine the organisation to find out more about its benefits and how it aligns with your goals. Try not to worry too much. Best of luck.
