I am writing to express my strong interest in the Queen’s Smith MBA program. I have more than 3 years of work experience in the Marketing & PR domain. At present I am the marketing manager of a Food & Beverage fine dining management company – Yunmi Group.
For the last 2 years at Yunmi Group, I have led multiple marketing projects with many prestigious brands. These projects have allowed me to develop exceptional skills in communication, decision-making and problem-solving. In these 2 years, I have been working closely alongside the project managers in the company, and now I aspire to become a project manager myself. I am now motivated to step up from marketing implementation to the strategy aspect of F&B and hospitality.
However, as a humanities graduate and a marketing professional, so far, my business exposure is limited to marketing research, event management and influencer management. To achieve my desired transitions, not only do I require a strong base in business fundamentals, but I also need to fill gaps in my soft skills for taking leadership roles.
To switch to a project management and strategy-making role, I need to gain systematic knowledge of management and business strategy via an MBA. After extensive research and conversation with alumni, I believe Queen’s Smith MBA perfectly aligns with my desired learning from an MBA program. Three ways through which I see that Queen’s Smith MBA will help me bridge the skill gaps and achieve my short-term goals of getting into management roles are:

【Team-Based Learning】The second feature that really attracted me to the queen’s program is the “Team-Based Learning.” methodology. As many have said, “business is a group sport”, having worked in many cross-culture projects, I have deeply benefited from working in a team setting , and I think this approach will exponentially enhance my learning experience and allow me to develop collaboration and leadership skills to lead international projects.
【Supportive Services】Lastly, I really loved the program’s unique coach & career support services that provides a personalized all-around support from career development, productivity to lifestyle. Having the motivation to be a future leader, I believe I will benefit hugely from this holistic approach to further enhance my soft skills and achieve my career goals.
In addition, I am also interested in applying for Smith’s donor/named scholarship awards. I believe that I am a strong candidate for the Women in Leadership Scholarship, as community involvement and volunteer work have always been integral to my life, and I have dedicated myself to female empowerment through my work with Chengyusan and Sunflower Children’s Center in China, helping ending gender violence and empowering young girls from a marginalized background.
