Queen’s Smith MBA Interviews

How Queen’s Smith MBA Interview Works

Applications that are complete in all aspects and qualify in terms of the minimum academic and other criteria specified above are evaluated for being progressed to the next stage in the admission process. Shortlisted candidates will be called for the Queen’s Smith MBA interview process.

The Queen’s Smith MBA interview panel will evaluate each candidate’s performance in terms of quality of work experience, diversity, leadership qualities, social sensitivity, and multifacetedness.

As a general approach to selecting a candidate for the programme, a multi-factor model is used. These factors include academic track record, GMAT/GRE scores, quality of work experience, performance in the interview, and writing ability test. A composite total score will be calculated for each applicant using the multi-factor model. A merit list is prepared based on the composite total score. The offer of admission will be made to a certain percentage of applicants on the merit list. The number of offers made will depend on the availability of seats. The number of offers will be further subject to the candidate meeting a minimum cutoff in terms of the composite score and/or for any other factor score that the admissions committee may decide on

Who will interview you, and how long will the interview last?

Queen’s Smith MBA WAT

Some essential you should know before the Queen’s Smith interviews: The WAT subjects are not too challenging, and they frequently concentrate on current economic issues. The college would like to see how well-organized your writing is and how well-reasoned your arguments are.

The following are important reminders to consider before you start writing.

  1. Express your opinions rather than facts
  2. Use reason to approach the issue logically and holistically.
  3. Craft clear and thorough arguments.
  4. Avoid making whatever you write seem complicated.

Some WAT subjects from recent years:

  1. There has been a trend of increasing commercialization in the education sector in India. What measures could be taken by the government and public to curb this trend?
  2. How do you feel about the recent farmer-related legislation?
  3. What can be done to recover and lessen the effects of the Covid-19-related decline in the economy and GDP?
  4. Should the economy be allowed to resume normal operations, or should lockdowns still be in place?

Queen’s Smith MBA Interview Questions – 1

I was interviewed for the Queen’s Smith MBA Program on April 21, 2022. . It was a smooth experience. Here are the questions asked to me:

1. Describe Yourself

2. Why an MBA and why Smith?

3. Post-MBA objective? What steps will you take to find employment?

4. Did you work in a multicultural environment? What specifically presents a challenge when working with teams from different backgrounds?

5. Have you made contact with any Smith alumni?

6. Have you received constructive criticism? If so, what did you do?

7. What difficulties do you anticipate once your programme gets underway?

There could have been a couple more questions, but I don’t remember them because I was so exhausted. I used what I learned from this interview to prepare for my next two, and I was in to both schools. I’m still awaiting Queen’s choice so that I can consider all of my alternatives.

Lessons:

– Conduct a practise interview – Check your physical condition before the interview. I tried to eat dinner and take a shower quickly after running home an hour before the interview, and I paid the price. You should ask to leave work early the day of your interview if it is at 8 p.m.

– To give yourself a little practise, you may even arrange the interview at your least preferred or non-targeted school first.

– Do more research

Don’t follow my example; instead, do as I advise. Good luck!

Update: I was paid to be admitted, so maybe it wasn’t so horrible after all. I believe the rest of my profile helped me get by.

Queen’s Smith MBA Interview Questions – 2

My interview went quite well, and it was completed in 30 to 40 minutes. The admissions director and career executive conducted the interview for the Queens’ Smith MBA Program. The interview was conducted on June 10, 2021.

The questions were:

Why Queen’s Smith?

Why an MBA?

What can you tell me about yourself?

Something that you enjoy doing?

Several behavioural questions

Have you ever persuaded someone to follow your instructions?

Please get in touch if you need any assistance. Still waiting for my decision. Once I receive it from Adcom, I’ll update it.

Queen’s Smith MBA Interview Questions – 3

My interview for the Queen’s Smith MBA Program was conducted on February 17, 2023. The interview is rather informal. Adcoms anticipate a casual conversation rather than a typical interview topic. For post-MBA objectives, be sure to have an honest elevator pitch and do lots of research.

The why MBA/background questions were omitted. Immediately began with the question:

Why now?I

What special contribution would you make to the programme?

Did you speak with any Queen’s MBA candidates, past or present?

Which Queen’s extracurricular activity do you know about and want to join?

What if someone on your team isn’t doing their share?

What details about you would you like the AdCom to know?

The interview only lasted for 25 minutes, but it was really conversational. So, I’m feeling conflicted. My advice would be to be organised in your ideas and crystal clear on the narrative. You have already done everything. Most essential, try not to be anxious, as I was.

Queen’s Smith MBA Interview Questions – 4

I must admit that I’m shocked there isn’t a debrief for Queen’s, so I figured I’d add mine. My interview for the Queen’s Smith MBA Program was conducted on June 08, 2020. Out of the three schools I applied to, this was my first MBA interview, and it was terrible. I stumbled frequently because I was so anxious. There was a time in the interview when I even started to lose focus because I had just finished a very long, extremely stressful day at work at 8:30 p.m.

Do not be anxious at all because the interview will be conversational, as others have already indicated.

Following were the questions asked:

1. Why MBA?

2. Why now?

3. Why Smith?

4. Why Canada?

5. How are you in a team?

6. How are you as a leader?

7. Target industry and organisations

8. Post MBA goals

9. One thing you want adcom to know about you

I advise everyone to browse through the FT MBA forums from prior years; you will undoubtedly find additional questions that could be asked (that’s what I did).

Additionally, I advise going to their webinars and informative sessions or watching the prior ones on their YouTube page. Check over the webpage for the programme, and be very clear about what you want from an MBA and how Queen’s fits into the picture. If you’re reading this and have an interview coming up soon, good luck!

Queen’s Smith MBA Interview Questions – 5

Even though the first debrief here covers everything, I felt compelled to add my own experience because there are simply not enough debriefs for queen’s. My interview for the Queen’s Smith MBA Program was conducted on October 08, 2020.

The questions in my interview were:

Introduce yourself

Why Canada?

Why Smith?

3 professional assets

Research in your desired field of employment

Any area of weakness In your profile

These were the main questions. Personally, I believe that being well-prepared is crucial for feeling confident during the interview. I found it to be effective. I got an admission within two weeks. Best wishes to everyone.

Queen’s Smith MBA Interview Questions – 6

My interview for Smith’s MBA Program was held on Jun 13, 2023. Mary Elms, Director of Career Education and Coaching, and Geoff Coons, Associate Director for FT MBA, interviewed me. As they took turns asking the following questions, they began by briefly introducing themselves.

The questions in my interview were:

– Please introduce yourself

– Why Canada?

– Why Smith?

– Why now?

– Post MBA goals?

– Any area of weakness In your profile

Overall, the interview is definitely more like a casual talk. They make you feel at ease, and you are free to be who you are. You can succeed if you have a clear understanding of who you are, what you want to do, and why you want to do it. Best wishes.

Queen’s Smith MBA Interview Questions – 7

Interview is quite conversational. Adcoms anticipate a casual dialogue rather than a typical interview topic. For post-MBA objectives, be sure to have an honest pitch and do lots of research.

Questions were:

2. How did you learn about the Smith MBA Program? What procedure did you use to narrow down the schools?

3. Are there any deadlines from other schools that you need to meet? Which colleges have you applied to?

5. What are your strong points?

6. Where do you need to improve?

7. Can you share an instance in which you got helpful criticism?

8. What are the top three qualities you seek for in a company?

10. What actions will you take if a member of your team is not doing their part? How would you react to criticism if the roles were reversed and you were the one falling behind?

11. Which of the following would keep you up at night if Smith were to accept you? What will worry you the most?

Please get in touch if you need any kind of help. Still waiting for my decision. When I get it from Adcom, I’ll update it.

Queen’s Smith MBA Interview Questions – 8

Smith MBA Program interview was held on February 21, 2023. It didn’t feel like an interview at all, more like a coffee talk. One member of the admissions committee and one member of the career services team are present.

I don’t believe there is much cause for concern as long as your introduction, why MBA, and why Smith responses are well-structured and supported by strong examples. After all, the other questions all depended on how I responded to these. They were quite interested in my reasons for changing careers, as I am a dentist obtaining an MBA.

I had the chance to ask questions after the questionnaire session, which lasted around 40 minutes. The interviewers were warm and welcoming, and they created a welcoming environment for me to be open. I hope I did not bore them with my conversations with them, which I truly loved. I sincerely hope that this is helpful and wish all upcoming interviewees the best of luck.
