Introduction to MeM at Ottawa University

The Engineering Management Program offers a Master of Engineering in Engineering Management and a Graduate Diploma in Engineering Management. The program is supervised by a committee composed of representatives from the Telfer School of Management and of the Faculty of Engineering.

Eligibility Criteria for MeM at Ottawa University

Have a Bachelor’s degree with a specialization or a major (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline with a minimum admission average of 70% (B).
A minimum 2 years of experience and demonstrated proficiency in English are required.

You must upload copies of all transcripts from universities you have attended to the student portal. Transcripts must cover all courses and programs at any university you have attended, including regular programs (whether completed or not), exchanges, letters of permission, online or correspondence courses, courses taken as a non-degree student or visiting students, etc. If your transcript and degree certificate are not in English or French, you must submit a certified translation (signed and stamped and sealed).

After you receive an offer of admission, you must have official copies of all transcripts sent to the University of Ottawa directly from your previous institutions.

Previous or current Ottawa students do not need to submit a transcript of their studies at the University of Ottawa. Professional programs in rehabilitation require all transcripts, including those from uOttawa.

Specializations & Electives Offered

Optional courses enable students to develop knowledge and skills in an area of interest. Optional courses must include at least 3 units of engineering (EMP, GNG) courses and at least 3 units of management (ADM, MBA) courses, from the list of optional courses. Although every effort is made towards offering listed optional courses every year, students accepted in the program should verify course availability and plan accordingly. Various other courses are offered on an irregular basis as Special Topics.

It is the student’s responsibility to verify that they satisfy the prerequisites and language requirements for the elective courses that they wish to take and, after consultation with the academic advisor, to obtain permission from the professors teaching theses courses.

uOttawa has made this program flexible for working professionals and as such, offers three start dates/intakes in the calendar year: Fall, Winter and Spring-Summer.

 
 

To be eligible for admission to the MEM degree program, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Minimum two years of engineering work experience
  • Bachelor’s degree with a specialization or major in engineering, computer science or physical science and a minimum admission average of 70% (B)
  • Two letters of recommendation
  • Resume

Note: There is no GRE or GMAT requirement for the MEM program

Yes. There are four concentrations available within the MEM degree program: Advanced Project Management, Data Analytics, Operations Management and Product Management and Innovation. You can opt for two of four concentrations or none at all, depending on your specific objectives.

You will be educated by a strong faculty team with deep industry experience. Find out about faculty achievements and credentials on the faculty profile page.

Although it is part-time only (i.e., 2 courses maximum per term), the program’s 10 courses can be completed in as few as five terms (20 months). Alternatively, you may choose to complete the program at a more moderate pace by taking fewer courses per term.
