Eligibility Criteria for AEM at Duisburg Essen

Prerequisite for admission to the Master’s program “Automotive Engineering & Management” is the successful completion of the following

  • the bachelor’s degree program in industrial engineering at the University of Duisburg-Essen or
  • an equivalent or comparable degree program in the field of industrial engineering.

The overall grade of the degree must generally be at least 2.5 or better.

The determination of equivalence is made by the examination board. As a rule, the following are considered equivalent

  • a relevant course of study lasting at least three and a half years with a first professional degree and a total workload of at least 210 credits in the field of industrial engineering at another university within the scope of the German Higher Education Framework Act, or
  • a relevant degree from another higher education institution outside the scope of the Higher Education Framework Act, unless a significant difference in quality to a degree from a higher education institution within the scope of the Higher Education Framework Act can be demonstrated.
  • a Bachelor’s degree in engineering or business administration from the University of Duisburg-Essen or from another university within the scope of the Framework Act for Higher Education, subject to conditions if applicable.

If the qualification (incl. specialized internship) is not given, in particular if a first degree qualifying for a profession with less than 210 credits is available, the examination board can combine the admission with the condition to prove certain competences until the registration of the master thesis. The type and scope of these requirements are determined individually by the Examination Committee on the basis of the course content completed as part of the previous degree. The scope of the requirements is up to 30 ECTS credits.
