This course will train you in analytical decision-making. Not only do you learn the theory of business analytics but also how to apply it in practice. This involves generating relevant business insights using data-driven methodologies and tools. Our programme is one of the few to teach the entire Business Analytics life cycle, covering Descriptive, Predictive and Prescriptive analytics.

The Department of Management Science provides an extensive careers service and postgraduate students may expect to be eagerly sought after by employers. Major employers contact the Department each year to recruit. Many former students now hold senior positions in their organisation – as management scientists or as managers.
The Department has strong links with companies and organisations, many of which employ our alumni. Companies visit the department to make presentations and interview students as part of their selection process. In other instances, opportunities are advertised via the noticeboards and electronically on the student VLE. You are also asked to contact company recruitment offices directly.
Management Science, Operational Research, Logistics, Supply Chain and Market Analysis are seen by leading companies as the start of a fast track to promotion for high flyers with a numerate or scientific background. Project Management skills are also highly sought after by companies due to a need for improved project success rates and more global and complex project organisations. There is a continually growing market for the project profession which covers many roles from support to strategic leadership. Experience has shown that if you have a postgraduate qualification, you will not only obtain a better starting job but will also receive more rapid promotion.
2:1 Hons degree (UK or equivalent) in a quantitative discipline such as Mathematics and/or Statistics or Engineering. Businesss and Management degrees with a very strong quantitative component may also be considered. Information Technology and Computer Science degree are only suitable with very strong quantitative content.
Previous study needs to have included topics such as maths, probability, statistics, econometrics, game theory, data analysis, operations research, simulation and business modelling. Prior study in computer programming is not required.

For recent graduates, relevant experience can be an advantage, but is not essential. For other applicants, work experience in analytics and/or data modelling is required.Ideally no more than 5 years should have elapsed since previous full-time study.

Eligibility: Awardees must hold an offer of study on the MSc Business Analytics programme and must demonstrate either academic or professional excellence.
Details of award: To apply for this scholarship, please fill out the form below by 30 June. Awardees must also meet all other entry requirements for the postgraduate taught programme applied for, which will be delivered at Lancaster University Management School.

MSc Business Analytics: Robinson Scholarship

The MSc in Business Analytics consists of compulsory and optional modules, plus a project. The compulsory modules ensure that you have a firm grounding in important subjects. The wide range of optional modules allows you to specialise in subjects that particularly interest you.
During your first term from October to December you will study four core modules:
The second part of the course runs from January to May, and includes the Analytics in Practice module plus three optional modules.
From May to September you will choose one of the two dissertation modules.

Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a relevant field, such as business, economics, mathematics, statistics, or computer science. A minimum GPA of 3.0 is required. Applicants with a non-business background may be required to take additional coursework in business fundamentals.
Prior experience with business analytics is not required, but it is helpful. The program is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in a career in business analytics, regardless of their previous experience.
The MSBA program is a one-year, full-time program.
Graduates of the MSBA program are highly sought-after by employers in a variety of industries, including technology, finance, consulting, and healthcare. Graduates have gone on to work for companies such as Amazon, Google, Microsoft, and Deloitte.
