Eligibility Criteria for Florida International M.S. in Health Informatics & Analytics

  1. Hold a four-year U.S. equivalent Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  2. Have a minimum upper division grade point average (GPA) of 3.0.
  3. Achieve a competitive score on the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) or Graduate Record Exam (GRE). FIU University’s code is 5206.

    Waiver of the requirement could be considered if either:
    1. The applicant has a minimum of four (4) years of professional experience directly related to the program
    2. If the applicant already completed a graduate degree in a directly related field from an accredited university with a minimum of a 3.0 cumulative grade point average (GPA) or

  1. Official transcripts from all previously attended colleges and/or universities.

    • Applicants with foreign educational credentials in a language other than English must provide us with translated transcripts and diploma(s). Copies of these translations may be sent to us electronically. The transcripts/diploma(s) must be translated by a recognized translation agency or an official translator. Some suggested agencies are found on the University Graduate School website.

  2. Official proof of degree: A notarized copy of the original diploma is required if the degree is not posted on the official transcript.

  3. Current Resume: Detailing your chronological professional experience, specifying employment dates, nature of positions (full-time/part-time), and duties or responsibilities, as well as educational history and dates of earned degrees.

  4. Statement of Purpose: A document of no more than two (2) pages describing how the program fits within your personal and career goals. The essay will be evaluated for applicants’ effective and succinct writing skills.

  5. Employment Verification must be submitted to establish professional experience for any position held prior to earning an undergraduate degree.

  6. If required,  GMAT/GRE scores – FIU Code : 5206

    • GMAT minimum score of 500
    • GRE minimum combined score of 1000 (154 in Verbal and 152 in Quantitative)
  7. Applicants who hold an undergraduate or graduate degree from non-English speaking countries must demonstrate English proficiency by taking either:

    • Duolingo (minimum score is 110)
    • TOEFL (minimum scores are: 550 paper-based, 213 computer-based, and 80 internet-based)
    • IELTS (minimum score is 6.5)

    Test scores are considered official when sent by the testing center directly to our school. When requesting the official scores, please refer to the Florida International University Institution code 5206.

  8. If requested, applicants must be prepared to formally interview with the admissions team committee prior to receiving consideration.

International Students requirement

International applications who require an F-1 Visa will be required to submit these additional documents to complete their application package:

  1. Bank Letter

  2. Sponsor Letter (Waived if applicant is sponsoring self)

  3. DCF form The Declaration and Certification of Finances must be completed and returned to Graduate Admissions. Students with Internet access can complete the DCF form online. Once completed please print it and return it.

  4. F1 Transfer Form (If needed) F-1 students transferring from another institution in the United States must provide a copy of the F-1 Student Transfer Form with a suitable release date from his/her current institution.

  5. Proof of Medical Insurance By Board of Trustees and university rule, all international students at FIU in F-1 and J-1 status are required to have medical insurance prior to registration. Proof must be submitted to the Health Compliance Office at University Health Services. Students will NOT be allowed to register for classes without complying with the medical insurance requirement and will receive a hold on their registration.

The University is required by immigration authorities to check carefully the financial resources of each applicant prior to issuing the Form I-20. Therefore, it is important that you be aware of the cost of participating in the program and have the necessary support and funding for your period of enrollment. The total funds available for the entire program must equal the total estimate of institutional costs and living expenses for the duration of the program (Estimate of $73,500 for the 2016-2017 academic year). Please make sure that you provide us with sufficient proof of funds for at least this amount.
