Short Answer – In sum, the average GMAT score at Essec MSBA is consistently around 690. If you score above 690, you have a fair shot and you will receive an encouraging response to your profile evaluation from the admission committee.
Long Answer – Additionally, there is no such thing as a safe score, higher is always better. In our years of consulting experience, all in all, we have seen our clients with 640 getting selected into top schools like MIT SLOAN and on the other hand, someone with a 770 getting rejected too. A good benchmark that we advise all our clients to beat is the average GMAT score of the last entering class as mentioned in the Class profile published every year.

If you are applying with a score that is below the average, then you are starting a fight with one hand tied behind your back or, let’s say, you are starting a few yards behind your competitors. You can definitely catch up in other sections of the application by writing outstanding essays or performing really well in an interview later. A higher GMAT score helps one gain a competitive advantage.

In fact, the over-represented candidate pool of Indian or Chinese applicants usually goes through a rigorous preparation process for GMAT, with a lot of Indian applicants scoring quite high, increasing the overall competition. School will notify you and give you roughly 1 week to schedule your interview. Ideally, start your prep ASAP and Do some mock interviews.
Recommendations letters are very important for Essec MSBA admission. The admissions committee is used to looking at these and the ones that make the difference outline concrete examples of how the student lives up to the praise/recommendations given. You should therefore select references who know you best and have experience working with you either academically or professionally. It is much better to have a reference from someone who knows you than from someone you have selected due to their position.
The Master in Data Sciences & Business Analytics does not require a certain French level. We do however strongly recommend you try and learn French when you are here. As you live in France and many of your fellow students and friends will be French-speaking, acquiring the language does help you during your time at ESSEC and in France. Moreover, if you are not French-speaking and want to remain in France for your internship or job in the future, learning French is fundamental.
Every Essec MSBA application is thoroughly reviewed by the admissions board which is comprised of both academic and professional staff, with consideration given to all elements including hard and soft skills. Hence, you should be keen on improving all kinds of skills.
Over 100 cultural, professional, community and athletic student associations exist at ESSEC. ESSEC is open to new ideas for clubs if the existing groups do not fit your needs or interests. You can, therefore, engage with existing clubs to make your own club.
