Mannheim MBA Interview

The Admissions Committee will take a holistic view at your application. There will be a personal or web-based interview with the Admissions Manager. A successful first interview is followed by a case study work at home.

Final Interview with Program Management at Mannheim.

An admissions decision will be made based on the evaluation of your application package and the selection interview within two weeks.

The Mannheim Interview panel will evaluate each candidate’s performance in terms of quality of work experience, diversity, leadership qualities, social sensitivity, and multifacetedness.

As a general approach to selecting a candidate for the program, a multi-factor model is used. These factors include academic track record, GMAT/GRE scores, quality of work experience, performance in the interview, and writing ability test. A composite total score will be calculated for each applicant using the multi-factor model. A merit list is prepared based on the composite total score. The offer of admission will be made to a certain percentage of applicants on the merit list. The number of offers made will depend on the availability of seats. The number of offers will be further subject to the candidate meeting a minimum cutoff in terms of the composite score and/or for any other factor score that the admissions committee may decide on

Who will interview you, and how long will the interview last?

Like most B-schools, Mannheim interview is taken by a Panel. The Panel usually consists of 2-3 professors. The interview typically lasts for 25-30 minutes or may extend to 35-40 minutes in some instances.

Will the interviewer have read my application?

It is always safer to assume that the Panel members have access to your complete application. In most instances, they would have read it completely. Unless the school specifically says that it will be an blind interview. Mostly North American Business schools in US and Canada have an  Blind interviews, European and SE Asian schools conduct interviews via Alums or panels which have full access to your entire application.

Mannheim MBA Interview Questions – 1

Hi, I recently got an admit from Mannheim. Below is a brief of my experience with the admission:
I started early, Oct 1st week was when I submitted my application. Within a week I got the request for submission of video presentation. Post that I waited for a good month and a half to receive my first selection interview invite. Had my second selection interview 3 weeks after that but I received the final confirmation within 3 days post the interview.

Interview experience:
1st selection: It was mainly about my motivation to join Mannheim, why Germany, why MBA, why now and a bit about my work experience and the type of work that I have done so far. This was with the admissions officer.
Final interview: This was with someone from the career cell. This included a case study (that I received about a week before the date of interview) and questions to assess my motivation and whether I would fit in the German job market post-MBA. Whether I have thought of it and to what extent.

Mannheim MBA Interview Questions – 2

Hi ..
The interview was good …around 45 mins .. we discussed about the my career progression, motivation for going for MBA, work experience, daily work, leadership experience, personal achievements, contribution towards Mannheim school, social responsibility a situational case study was also given by the interviewer, etc.

I felt it was quite long but was fine and got selected to go through the next round i.e case study.

Let me know if you need any information

Mannheim MBA Interview Questions – 3

My admission experience was straightforward. I visited the school on the mid-october and talked with adcoms and several students there.
After I going back to my country, then I start the application. My first interview was quiet short because I’ve talked a lot with the adcoms during my visit, so the question is just around what do I feel during my visit, why do I decide to apply. The first interview is just 30 minutes via skype.

My second interview was rather rigorous. I was given a case study and need to explain the problem and solution to the case. After the case study, I was also asked about my profile and career plan. Lot of ‘trap’ question there, so I think you are really need to prepare your answer. I did not really confident with my case study answer, but I really trying hard to convince them that my career plan and work experience is coherent with the program. The interview lasts more than one hour because we had a long discussion, but overall the interviewer was fair and square about my career goals and my admission chance.

Please kindly note that from last year experience, the admission process could be different for each candidate, so my experience could be irrelevant to several candidate and vice -versa.

Mannheim MBA Interview Questions – 4

The second interview will be a discussion of the case- your methodology, concepts, how you reached the conclusions, etc…I guess an hour will feel rather short. In my case, the coversation went on for an additional 45 min..There will also be some questions on your career plan…what you expect, german employment scene, etc. Definitely a good opportunity to clear whatever questions u have in general about the program, your career possibilities in Germany after the job, etc.

Cheers and good luck!

Mannheim MBA Interview Questions – 5

Hi,
The ‘trap’ question was regarding my career and back up plan. As a non-EU citizen and non German working visa/ blue card holder, I need to convince the interviewer would I ‘fit’ into German job market after I graduate and the ‘what if’ questions. Probably if you are an EU citizen/working visa holder it would not be complicated.

I hope you can succeed on the admission process as well.

Mannheim MBA Interview Questions – 6

There are no standard set of questions,
It is personalized to your career goals and your achievements.
The 2nd interview is all about the case study and why you will be a good fit for the class

Mannheim MBA Interview Questions – 7

“There were two rounds of interviews – First round was generic and was more around why germany? Why Mannheim? Future goals (long term and short term) and how do they align with the current profile. Second round of interview was based on the case study shared after the first round. The e-mail mentioned not to prepare any detailed deck or write up for the interview so I refrained from doing the same. Both interviews lasted 30-35 minutes.”

Clients Testimonials

Mannheim MBA Interview Questions – 8

I was interviewed online on Skype. My interview Date was January 22nd, 2019 Final Determination: Admitted

“Hi everybody,

It’s been three days since my interview, which went well and was a positive experience overall. The interview was conducted over WebEx and took around half an hour.

1. The experience as a whole was enjoyable because it was structured more like a discussion.

2. Be prepared to answer the most fundamental questions during the MBA interview. You need to have lucid explanations ready for all of the queries, such as Why an MBA? Why did you choose Mannheim?

3. During the course of the interview, I was taken aback by anything that had to do with previous professional experience. It appears that the interviewer is familiar with my job profile, as a result of which there were a number of in-depth questions relating to my job profile. When we talk about your professional experience, I would recommend getting yourself very well prepared so that you can present your accomplishments, foreign experience, and lessons learned.

I really hope this helps someone out there who has an interview coming up in the next few days.

A brief introduction: my name is Alisha, and I am an Indian currently staying in Germany.

I was interviewed on Skype. My interview date was October 28 and 30, 2020 Conclusion and Decision: Accepted

I had a very great experience with my interview; it was very conversational and candid.

Total duration: 90 minutes
The first ten minutes will consist of idle chitchat about Germany, the weather, and COVID.
Questions:

1) Please tell me about your family—what your upbringing was like, where you spent your childhood, and what your parents and siblings do for a living. >> We both realized that we had lived in a few of the same cities, so we discussed that.

2) Would you tell me about yourself and what drives you in life?

3) I was questioned about the several languages I am able to communicate in (this information was included in my resume).

4) Obstacles that must be overcome as an entrepreneur

5) The most significant achievements in one’s life

6) Goals after receiving an MBA: plan A and plan B+ with additional questions

7) Why Get an MBA and Why Attend Mannheim

8) In what ways do you plan to contribute to the group?

9) How do you plan to pay for your MBA, along with some follow-up questions

10) Give me your closing argument as to why we should accept you into the program or award you a scholarship.

11) To end things off, I asked him a couple questions, which were as follows:

– a description of how things go for alumni

– experience with partners and managing that in conjunction with school

– establishing and leading an organization within Mannheim

The entire interview was like having a very enlightening conversation over coffee! There was a great deal of back-and-forth discourse as well as questions that followed up, and the flow was quite unobstructed overall. He also suggested instructors and alumni for you to get in touch with.

Notes:

1) During the interview, the interviewer will have a printed copy of your resume in front of them; therefore, you should be familiar with every aspect of it. Particularly the section on extracurricular activities

2) After the interview, send a thank-you e-mail to the person who interviewed you.

3. Make sure to talk to a large number of former pupils and include this information in your interview. Discuss the things that you have learned from both the students and the alumni, as well as how the networking has helped you and how it has informed your decisions.
