Essay 1. Why you wish to pursue the IPMX? (200 words)

Working in the fashion industry as a Store manager had helped me gain leadership skills that I vested into my family business. However after working 6 years into my business, I realized I was struggling to expand operations, since my lack of cross-cultural experience and practical knowledge at a broader level was deterrent in my decision-making ability. This experience reinforced the belief, that the skills I possess are not enough and requires a platform to enhance my business acumen.

IPMX will give me an opportunity to enrich those skills as it stresses upon advance electives and experiential learning. Exposure to course of ‘Strategic Business Negotiation’ and ‘Global supply chain management’ will improve my negotiations skills and equip me understand nuances of logistics with precision. Moreover insights into marketing through ‘B2B Marketing’ will leverage my marketing skills that would position my business at national level.

Exposure to International immersion, leadership talk series and industrial visits would be vital in establishing networking. Peer to peer learning through working on case studies with diversified experiences will expand my perspective towards a business solution .My participation into ‘Nostalgia’ will laid plethora of entrepreneurial resources to network with community entrepreneurs and build a larger network.

2. Please describe your short-term and long-term career goals.(200 words)

My family business has been into Lube industry, which caters to sales and supply of lubricants to aftermarket and OEM business channels. Our core function has varied from increasing brand presence, managing inventory to logistics.

Being a third generation, I would re-model the supply chain vertical. Since my business caters to OEM Automobile partners that require delivery of goods on top notch priority, Post learning from IPMX I would aim at designing an efficient logistic system and at establishing coordination and integration of function across supply chain. By using business analytics and by focusing on distribution and inventory management, I would transform my overall channel to ensure better productivity and profitability.

My long term goal is to scale my venture at a Pan India level by increasing brand presence, targeting PCMO segment in the next 5 years. I envision resolving real time problems for industry clients, skill that would give me an advantage during tie ups with automobile partners. I intend to incorporate new marketing strategies to position my brand across luxury segment by offering premium service at minimum cost. To achieve such vision would require practical application of skills, and so IPMX would arm me with endless opportunities.

Formulating Strategies and operations: Exposure to both B2C and B2B industries have taught me formulating collaborative marketing strategies so as to gain an edge over competitors.

Leadership and Business development: From opening a flagship Retail store to promoting a brand into new market has evolved leadership & people managing skills.

Having grown in a joint family business, traits of social responsibility have been engrained me. However, it wasn’t until I started heading my business and interacting with clients that I realised the importance of education. I faced an incident wherein my client, associated with farming, ended his life due to financial crisis

Such a tragedy pushed me to educate farmers.

While adhering to the issue it became imperative to have a strong network to educate thousands of farmers. I soon discussed the issue with my team of 150 retailers as they work on the ground level. We incorporated teams of 8-10 retailers and started the campaign-‘Save the Farmer’. We conducted weekly sessions related to financing options and helped farmers procured need based loan.

As I have grown, I have cultivated personal values of serving others and giving back to society. This is what I would also bring to the classroom at IPMX.
