Emory Goizueta MBA Interview Questions – 1

Wrapped up my interview last night. The Adcom started with a very brief intro of hers and quickly directed the conversation towards me. She said she was only having my resume in her hand and would like to know more about me during the conversation. Here’re the questions she asked:

1. Tell me about your present work. (Follow up questions to understand my work properly)
2. Why do you want to get an MBA? And, why now?
3. How does your experiences and skills that you have gained connects with your post MBA goals? (Follow up question: why that particular concentration and area of work?)
4. You have worked in teams; tell me about the best team you have worked in.
5. If I asked your team members or your supervisors or your friends, which three words will they use to describe you?
6. Why did you chose to apply to Emory Goizueta?
7. Any questions for me?

There were other follow up questions as well in between. The entire interview was very conversational and the Adcom did seem genuinely interested in knowing more about me. The Adcom didn’t stop herself from digging deep whenever she felt she required more info. The interview lasted a little over 30 minutes.

So, that’s it. Hope it helps you prepare for your interview. :-) All the Best  and Cheers

Emory Goizueta MBA Interview Questions – 2

Had a pretty straight forward interview with no surprise questions and it turned into a conversation. General questions were as follows:

  • How would your co-workers describe you with three character traits? The three traits caught me a little off guard but was able to put something together.
  • Why MBA, why now, why Goizueta?
  • Post MBA plan, and how will Goizueta help you achieve them?
  • Professional advice I’ve received.

We had a pretty good conversation about the leadership development program, class size, travel opportunities, etc.

Personally, I thought the the interview was extremely average — a little self conscious about some of my answers, but I heard on Thursday that I was admitted! Huge relief.

Emory Goizueta MBA Interview Questions – 6

I had my interview yesterday. It was pretty straight forward and relaxed, lasted for about 30 minutes.

It started off with the interviewer telling me about herself and then going on to my resume and starting with the questions. The first few questions were the general ones that you’d expect- Tell me about yourself, Why an MBA at this point in time, Why Goizueta and Post-Mba Goals.

The interviewer then moved on to behaviour and specific experience related questions that revolved around how you handle constructive criticism, what would your boss think about you, how do you cope with dynamic situations, and suchlike.

Hope this was helpful!

Emory Goizueta MBA Interview Questions – 7

Just finished with my interview. Quite short, about 35 minutes. Neutral feelings about how it went. Trying desperately to stop the mental playback.

These were the questions I got asked:

Walk me through your resume, with emphasis on choice of degree and career transitions

Why MBA now?

Why Goizueta?

What companies are you targeting for your internship?

What in your opinion is important for teams to function at their best?

Describe a time when you effected change in your organization

Describe a time when you received constructive feedback from your superiors.

Are you open to working internationally?

If you could go back and change something about your career, would you?

She then asked me if I wanted to add anything. I touched upon my potential contributions to the school.

Emory Goizueta MBA Interview Questions – 8

I just had my interview, and I’m feeling excellent about it. The admissions committee (adcom) made the experience comfortable and conversational. It was all about getting to know me better. The questions were straightforward and weren’t trying to trick or quiz me. Here’s a summary of their questions: Why do you want to pursue an MBA? Why is this the right time for you to pursue an MBA? What specifically attracts you to Goizueta? They asked me to walk them through my resume and followed up with a few clarification questions. They wanted to know why I chose my undergraduate institution. They asked me what I believe I can bring to Emory. We discussed my current role and whether I have any people reporting to me. They inquired about my post-MBA plans, including the location I’m interested in. Lastly, they allowed me to ask any questions I had. The interview was on a strict 30-minute time limit, but I had about 6 minutes left for my questions. They didn’t specifically ask if I had spoken with any alumni or about the clubs and classes I was interested in. The adcom had reviewed my resume but not my application. Another person will review my application separately, and then they will collaborate with the team to decide. Overall, it was a positive and straightforward interview experience.

I recently had my interview with a second-year student from Goizueta, and it went well. The interviewer was friendly and cheerful throughout the interview. Here’s a breakdown of the questions: We started with a little chat about my class visits and events I engaged with at Emory. We talked about how they were and my experiences. The interviewer asked me to tell them about myself. They wanted to know why I was interested in pursuing an MBA and how it would help me with my goals. I was asked why I chose Emory, especially when other schools may be better suited for entrepreneurship. We discussed my startup journey during the pandemic. They wanted to know about my challenges, how I coped with them, and what I learned from the experience. The interviewer asked about my leadership style and what I consider essential traits when building a high-performing team. They inquired about my understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) and asked me to share scenarios that illustrate my perspective. We had a conversation about my interests and activities outside of the classroom. They asked about the sports I play and where I play them. The interviewer asked about my knowledge of fellowships at Emory and whether I have applied for any or plan to apply. Lastly, I was asked why I believe I will be able to achieve my post-MBA career goal. Overall, the interview was very conversational and friendly. The interviewer wanted to know me better and assess my confidence level.

Emory Goizueta MBA Interview Questions – 10

Hey everyone! I just had my interview with Matt Morgan from the Admissions Committee at Goizueta, and it went well. Matt was friendly and cheerful throughout the interview. The interview lasted precisely 30 minutes. Here are the questions Matt asked me: He asked me to walk him through my work experience, which took about 2-3 minutes. He wanted to know why I was interested in pursuing an MBA and why this is the right time. There was a question that caught me off guard: why is this personally a good time for me to pursue an MBA? It was something I had yet to think about or prepare for explicitly. He asked about my short-term and long-term goals. We discussed the value I created in my previous leadership experiences. Matt asked what clients and coworkers would say are my strengths. He wanted to know what I believe my strengths are.

We talked about what motivates me to do my work and what I aspire to do in the future. Matt asked how I heard about Emory Goizueta. Matt inquired about specific aspects of Goizueta that will help me achieve my goals, such as courses or unique features. He wanted to know how I would contribute to the Goizueta community. Finally, he asked about my hobbies or what I do for fun. Towards the end, Matt gave me a few minutes to ask him any questions I had. He also mentioned that he could connect me with the Career Management team if I had any specific questions for them. Overall, it was a positive experience, and I feel good about the interview.
