Edinburgh MBA Interviews

How Edinburgh MBA Interview Works

Applications that are complete in all aspects and qualify in terms of the minimum academic and other criteria specified above are evaluated for being progressed to the next stage in the admission process. Shortlisted candidates will be called for the Edinburgh MBA Interviews process.

The Edinburgh MBA Interview panel will evaluate each candidate’s performance in terms of quality of work experience, diversity, leadership qualities, social sensitivity, and multifacetedness.

As a general approach to selecting a candidate for the program, a multi-factor model is used. These factors include academic track record, GMAT/GRE scores, quality of work experience, performance in the interview. A composite total score will be calculated for each applicant using the multi-factor model. A merit list is prepared based on the composite total score. The offer of admission will be made to a certain percentage of applicants on the merit list. The number of offers made will depend on the availability of seats. The number of offers will be further subject to the candidate meeting a minimum cutoff in terms of the composite score and/or for any other factor score that the admissions committee may decide on

Who will interview you, and how long will the interview last?

Like most B-schools, the Edinburgh interview is taken by a Advisory committee. The committee usually consists of 2-3 professors. The interview typically lasts for 25-30 minutes or may extend to 35-40 minutes in some instances.

Will the interviewer have read my application?

It is always safer to assume that the committee members have access to your complete application. In most instances, they would have read it completely. Unless the school specifically says that it will be an blind interview. Mostly North American Business schools in US and Canada have an  Blind interviews, European and SE Asian schools conduct interviews via Alums or panels which have full access to your entire application.

Edinburgh MBA Interview Questions – 1

I was interviewed away from the Campus with Advisory Committee.

Interviewed on: Nov 13, 18

The Ultimate Decision: Admitted

“why an MBA right now?

Why Edinburgh?

Why choose Scotland?

If you were to picture yourself on the cover of a magazine in 10 years, what would you call the issue?

What do you think to be the most important values when working in a team?

Have you been to the campus as of yet?

Do you know any alumni, and if so, who was their preferred professor?

What is the single accomplishment in your life of which you are the most proud?

I have to say that, all things considered, the interview was a relatively simple affair. I had met my interviewer at the MBA exhibition in Scotland at the beginning of the year, so we were already familiar with one another. In addition to that, I went to an official alumni event that was held in Edinburgh, and I also have some friends who are presently enrolled in the master of science program.

As was mentioned in earlier threads, Edinburgh is interested in learning more about you and determining whether or not your beliefs align with those of the institution. Edinburgh makes a very clear presentation of themselves on their website under the heading “vision & mission,” which is a section that I would strongly encourage anyone to read.

Moreover, I believe that honesty is the most important virtue, at least for me, and I think it should be the same for you. Because of this, the only stories I’ve told about myself are those that are factually accurate and that reflect how I actually felt in certain circumstances.

I believe that another thing that Edinburgh wants to check is whether or not you already know something about the school. It is important that you are familiar with their beliefs and that you have strong motivations for wanting to be there.

At the end, it needs to be a discourse that is true and sincere.

Edinburgh MBA Interview Questions – 2

I was interviewed online on Skype. My Interviewed was conducted on: Nov 22, 19. The Ultimate Decision: Admitted

Skype was the venue for my interview, which was conducted with a senior associate director of Admissions. Before I submitted my application to Edinburgh, I had previously gotten some information about the Tech MBA program from him. I submitted my application to both the International MBA and the Tech MBA that was just starting out at Edinburgh. I would say that my interview took up an entire hour of my time. These are the questions that were posed to me:

Please tell me about your background.

Why an MBA right now? Why Obtain an MBA?

People have been asking me why I applied to both the IMBA and the Tech MBA, given that I have applied to both program.

questioned me about my plans after completing my MBA, among other things.

Which Technological Advancement Do You Believe Will Completely Disrupt Other Industries, Including the Tech Industries?

You questioned me about artificial intelligence.

What is your go-to programming language, and what makes it so special?

asked me a few questions about the ethics of artificial intelligence.

questioned my knowledge of the blockchain.

I was questioned about a time when I failed.

Asked me about other colleges I had applied to, what my preferences were, and why I was interested in Edinburgh specifically.

Please introduce yourself to us in just one sentence.

Inquired about how I was doing in my studies.

A brief discussion about the Edinburgh financial aid program was had.

Are there any questions I can answer for you?

Even though I don’t feel like I did very well in the interview, I just felt good about how much deeper they want to know you, and they test you very well on how you can handle challenging situations. The interviewer was extremely engaging, and even though I don’t feel like I did very well in the interview, I just felt good about how much depth they want to know you. If you are considering applying to the Tech MBA program, some advise I would give you is to make sure you are well-prepared on the topics of the newest technologies and how AI is affecting many industries.

Edinburgh MBA Interview Questions – 3

I was interviewed online on Skype. My Interview was conducted on: Jul 29, 20

The Ultimate Decision: Admitted

“My interview was going to take place over a zoom call with one of the Advisory committee members at Edinburgh,” I said in the email. In total, my interview lasted between 40 and 45 minutes, and during that time, I felt like I was on a roller coaster.

The interview consisted of two distinct portions. The first section of the exam consisted of standard questions that every prospective MBA student would study for, such as, “Would you please introduce yourself?” Why an MBA? Why Edinburgh?. The second half of the exam was the challenging part; it included questions that were not on the course syllabus and were drawn from a wide variety of subject areas, including economics, finance, current affairs, verbal mathematics, and others. I will make an effort to compile a set of questions that will assist you in better preparing.

First part:

1) Say Something About Yourself

2) Why Edinburgh?

3) What do you want to do after you finish your MBA?

4) Do you have a plan for how you will pay for your MBA?

Second component:

1) 99/2

1) The square root of 33

3) 15 X 15 – 3

4) Inflation, hyperinflation, and deflation-related questions and answers

5) Current events, which I have just read about

6) What should the top priority be for politicians around the world?

7) The economic downturn of 2008

8) Walk a child who is 10 through the balance sheet.

9) The single most groundbreaking development in my opinion

10) A few more questions on a variety of unrelated subjects, the names of which escape me at the moment.

11) Is there anything more you need to know about Edinburgh?

I would advise anyone who is going to be interviewed in the future to prepare themselves thoroughly for the interview. Interviews with the IE should be taken very seriously. The second section of the interview has the potential to substantially change the direction your interview takes in any direction. It’s likely that the admissions committee is aware that all applicants have adequately prepared for the typical MBA questions and social questions, which is why they have this pop-up quiz kind of thing.

During my interview, I made a few gaffes; in response to some of the questions, I stated that I did not have a comprehensive understanding of the subject matter, but here is what I do know. I would advise you to be truthful at all times because there is a good reason why they are sitting on the other side of the table from you.

After an interview, people often find themselves preoccupied with thoughts related to the interview, such as “I should have said this and that,” “why did I say like that,” and “how stupid I was to respond this way.” Make an effort to remain cool and untense. Even if things haven’t gone like you intended them to, there’s still a chance of having a result the way you want it to be exactly even if they haven’t gone how you wanted them to.

Cheers!”

Edinburgh MBA Interview Questions – 4

“Off Campus, with Former Student, ” The interview occurred on December 29th, 2020. The Ultimate Choice: Admitted

“Both interviews consisted of conversation, with one being more conversational than the other.

The first interviewer was currently employed by a comparable company, albeit in a different capacity from the one being considered for. It took place in a coffee shop. She informed me that she had read my application. She began by providing an overview of her work and then moved on to pose the following questions:

1. Guide me through your curriculum vitae.

2. Concerns with my current position, including the stakeholders, the size of the team, the work I do, and the KPIs I manage

3. Why should I become an individual contributor instead of a people manager?

4. If you were a people manager now, what would you do differently than you did before?

5. What do you appreciate about data (because I was a data scientist)? If I hadn’t answered this question adequately, I think it could have led to a question about whether I wanted a master’s degree or an MBA.

6. Why do we need a product manager, and why do we need an MBA?

7. How was it to deal with people of various ethnic backgrounds? Do you have any thoughts to share?

8. During your time at EDINBURGH, what sorts of things do you plan to get involved in?

9. Given the abundance of options at EDINBURGH, how would you recommend prioritizing your time?

10. Do you plan to apply to any other schools except this one?

I questioned her about her experience at EDINBURGH and what inspired her to enroll in the program as part of the Q&A portion. In general, a conversational interview with a few in-depth questions sprinkled throughout.

The second interviewer fills a role that is analogous to the first. My goal is to have an MBA, but I want to work in a completely other field. Additionally, he was around 17 years my senior in terms of our job experience. Once more, a talk in a cafe. Even he had perused the materials I had sent. The following are some questions:

1. Please tell me about your background.

2. Why an MBA, and why EDINBURGH in particular?

3. Which EDINBURGH classes are most appealing to you and why?

4. In the event that you are not successful in obtaining an MBA, what other professional options are available to you in addition to those that you would prefer to pursue?

5. Instead of delaying the start of your long-term goal, why not immediately begin working towards it by launching your own business? Why wait?

6.1 year vs. 2 years MBA

7. Can you tell me about some of the things that keep you busy outside of work?

8. In what ways do you use the skills and knowledge you’ve gained outside of work in your professional life?

9. Have you given any thought to the geographical aspect of a post-MBA job? Which business did you post your MBA to?

10. If you’re unhappy with your current employer, why not try another?

11. How would you describe your approach to leadership?

12. Give me an example of a moment when you and the other members of your team had a disagreement. How did you deal with the situation?

13. Within the EDINBURGH MBA class group, what role do you anticipate playing within the collaborative efforts of your peers?

I asked him, as part of the Q&A session, what he would do differently if he had the opportunity to complete the EDINBURGH MBA once more. I also asked him about his time spent studying at EDINBURGH and how the value of that education is benefitting him in the long run. His remark was mostly centered on the robustness of the alumni network.

Overall a fairly informal talk. Even our shared passion for our football team helped us become closer.

Both of the interviews went well for me, which is saying a lot. Both events lasted around an hour and a half. As the waiting begins, we will keep our fingers crossed. I wish everyone who is taking part the best of luck!”
