What is a good GMAT score for DUKE MBA?
Short Answer – The average GMAT score at DUKE Fuqua is 700 for the last entering class. If you score above 700, you have a fair shot and you will receive an encouraging response to your profile evaluation from the admission committee.
Long Answer – There is no such thing as a safe score, higher is always better. In our years of consulting experience, we have seen our clients with 640 getting selected into top schools like INSEAD and on the other hand, someone with a 770 getting rejected too. A good benchmark that we advise all our clients to beat is the average GMAT score of the last entering class as mentioned in the Class profile published every year. Scoring above the average gets you a fair shot;

If you plan to apply with a score that is below the average, then you are starting a fight with one hand tied behind your back or, let’s say, you are starting a few yards behind your competitors. You can definitely catch up in other sections of the application by writing outstanding essays or performing really well in an interview later. But it is always nice to start ahead of the competitor. A higher GMAT score helps one gain a competitive advantage.
“What if you are from the over represented Indian or Asian Pool?”
The over-represented candidate pool of Indian or Chinese applicants usually goes through a rigorous preparation process for GMAT, with a lot of Indian applicants scoring quite high. Hence, the overall competition and the Average score for this diaspora goes up by a few notches. As an international student, when should I apply to DUKE Fuqua?
International students should apply in:

Visa processing can take several months to complete, so we recommend that you apply before Round 3 to ensure that you are able to join the program if admitted.
Will DUKE Fuqua consider my application with a degree of fewer than 4 years U.S. bachelor’s degree?
Generally, we do accept international bachelor’s degrees. Most of the degrees we see are for 4-year programs. Three-year degrees are fairly common in U.K.-based systems; therefore, a 3-year degree from England, Scotland, Wales, or Australia is acceptable. In India, the bachelors of commerce degree is 3 years and is usually considered the equivalent of a U.S. business degree.
Are financial aids available for international students?
Every admitted applicant is automatically reviewed for merit-based scholarships. There is no separate scholarship application. Scholarship information will be included in your electronic admission letter. The awards are for the 2-year duration of the MBA program and range from partial tuition to full tuition. What should I know about GMAT/GRE test scores for DUKE Fuqua?
There is no minimum requirement—we admit applicants with a range of test scores. GMAT/GRE/EA scores are important, but they are not the only indicator of achievement.

How are Fuqua merit scholarship awards determined?
Every admitted applicant is considered for a merit scholarship. Merit scholarship recipients are selected by an Admissions Merit Scholarship Committee.

- Professional accomplishments
These awards are for the 2-year MBA program duration and range from partial to full tuition. There is no funding for new awards in the second year. Therefore, students who enroll without scholarship funding the first year should not anticipate an award for the second year of the program. Merit scholarship awards are made independent of determining a student’s eligibility for student loans.
